תִּרְגֵּם, תִּירְ׳(late b. h.; רגם to speak aloud, Assyr.) to deliver, proclaim (V. Ezra 4:7). Lev. R. s. 9 (ref. to Prov. 14:9 יליץ) הטיפש הזה מְתַרְגֵּם חובתו בפיווכ׳ that fool proclaims his guilt with his own mouth and says, am I not bound to bring a sin-offering ?Esp. a) to explain, interpret, act as an Amora (v. אֲמוֹרָא); b) (at public service) to translate orally (in Aramaic) what has been read from the Scriptures in the original.
